Who it’s for

Give your business the skills to take more control

Want to start selling online? Thinking about moving your existing store? Or looking to build the skills inside your business to manage your next eCommerce website?

This workshop is for the person you want to take that on. They might already look after your website, work in operations or IT, or simply be ready to learn. They don’t need to be a developer.

We’ll start with a prepared environment and work through the steps together. The aim is to leave with something working, an understanding of how it fits together, and a process you can repeat.

What you’ll leave with

Leave with more than notes

  • Your own development store

A working Magento/Mage-OS starter store with sample products and basic configuration.

  • A cloud workspace

An environment for developing and trying changes.

  • A GitHub deployment pipeline

A repeatable way to move changes from your project to your staging site.

  • Starter automated tests

Checks you can run to help catch problems before changes go live.

  • A staging/UAT address

A place to review and accept changes before production.

  • A route to Hypernode production hosting

A guided walkthrough of how your store moves towards launch.

  • Free Mage2up access

Access to Develo’s automated upgrade tool to help simplify future upgrades.

  • A practical take-home guide

The steps, checks and next actions from the day.

Where AI fits

Learn where AI can help—and how to check its work

You’ll practise describing a change to AI, reviewing the result, running checks and deploying it to your staging site. We’ll also work through a patching exercise and show how Mage2up helps automate upgrades.

These skills can help your business handle more routine work internally and reduce ongoing development costs. The savings will depend on your store, the work involved and the skills you continue to build.

FAQs

Questions before you apply

Do I need to know how to code?
No. You should be comfortable using a laptop and willing to learn. We’ll use prepared environments and guided exercises, with an access checklist to complete before the day.
Can my business apply if we use another eCommerce platform?
Yes. The workshop is open to businesses exploring migration from any platform, as well as those starting a new store.
Will my existing store be migrated on the day?
You’ll build a development store using sample data. A full migration needs separate planning for your products, customers, orders and integrations.
Will I leave with a live production store?
You’ll leave with a development store, a staging/UAT site and a prepared route to production on Hypernode. Your production launch comes after the necessary setup and checks for your business.
What is UAT?
User acceptance testing: checking that the store and its changes work as your business expects. Your staging/UAT address gives you somewhere to do this before going live.
What should I bring?
A laptop, charger and access to the accounts listed in your pre-event checklist. We’ll send setup instructions before the workshop.
How many people can attend?
The first event has places for five businesses, with one nominated attendee each.
How do I get a place?
Apply below and tell us a little about your business and what you want to build. We’ll review applications and contact you to confirm whether we can offer a place.
